The art of making love doesn't differ between reality and fiction. But I still try as hard as I can to follow what I learned there. Martin is an excellent resource on the art of writing easily readable code. The whole book is This covers how to write logic so that its meaning is clear. But it was probably The Art of Readable Writing. In The Art of Readable Writing, Rudolf Flesch would agree with this line of thinking. He even provided, if I remember right, a nomograph for calculating readability. If you are one of these then The Art of Readable Code might open your eyes to better ways to do things - but only if you are ready for it. A minor squall has blown up after the American art critic Dave Hickey's announcement that he has “retired” in disgust from writing criticism. I don't just want to write a good love scene. I want to write a terrific love scene. It's learning to take that reality and make good, readable fiction.
